Thanksgiving Thoughts
This was a Thanksgiving summed up by a few things: unexpected, peaceful and perfect. I didn't think we would get to be together as a family, so it was an unexpected surprise to have Firoze for the table. It was peaceful because the boys were out of the house while I was cooking and it was perfect because we were all together and enjoying one of my favorite meals of the year!
My very own soccer team!
Dean is just too cute for words these days.
Cooking for me is a passion. A creative force and a zen moment, all rolled up. I rarely get to cook without a baby on my hip, while simultaneously answering questions about the Mesozoic era. This was a treat. The boys were playing a family soccer game with the rest of the St. Regis staff and this mama was in the kitchen, with the Macy's Day Parade playing and Christmas music blaring. Peeling potatoes, chopping onions, stirring pots... LOVED it!
My happy kitchen.
Baking dishes lined up, waiting for oven space.
Had to repeat good memories from last year, so I made a nice baked brie with cherries to nibble. It was sinful. But, so worth it!
A perfect plate.
"You know you're a mom when..."
You make seasonal crafts for every season out of construction paper.
Presenting... glorious, glittery turkey!
"You know you're a mom when..."
Thinking about glorious paper turkeys with feathers traced out of your baby's hands starts to make you teary, thinking about how small these hands are and how fast they'll grow and how you're gonna save this turkey forever.
Lame, but true. I can't help it. I'm a mom. wipes away tear
I'm especially thankful for my family and friends this Thanksgiving. I think every day, how blessed I am to be surrounded by such wonderful, amazing, loving and kind people. I'm thankful for Firoze, for all the ways he shows his love and helps me every day. I'm thankful to have two beautiful boys that make me laugh every day and let me feel pure love!
A few more things I am thankful for...
A perfectly cooked dinner.
Pioneer Woman's Chicken Cacciatore... one word: yummy!
Curious George
Why? Because Curious George is baby crack to Dean. Ok, maybe not the best description. Anyways, Curious George is the mute button or the "freeze" on all kinds of baby naughtiness. It's the one thing that causes instant, glorious peace and quiet.
See the baby stare. The zoned out TV addict. I promise, only one 30 minute session needed for mama's happiness reboot.
No, thank YOU George. Thank YOU.
I'm reminded every day to be thankful for the simple things.
Dean is thankful for his stick. If only everything was this simple.
As my favorite time of the year draws to a close, I'm saying goodbye to the pumpkins and hello twinkling lights...

Leaves, Leaves and more... Leaves!
I love my neighborhood because I'm on a street filled with trees. In the fall, it's magical in the sunlight... glowing yellow, orange and red leaves everywhere you look. However, that magic lasts for about one week and all those leaves start falling. Colorful, fluttering leaves EVERYWHERE! Our yard just happens to be the neighborhood "bowl" to collect those leaves. For Devon and Dean, these leaves make a perfect playground.
I can't resist this little pom-pom!
Little brother can't wait to climb the trees too!
All Dean really needs is his stick anyways...
This sweet little face makes me melt.
And this one, growing so much and becoming so strong and capable...
And handsome!
I finally caught this glimpse on camera... the elusive "highstep!"
When I let them do their own thing, I peeked around the tree to see them "raking" leaves together.
And we were all excited to see Nanny's car pull up! The boys were waving and I was off for some much needed "time off!"
Our weekend was relaxing, low-key, and full of fall leaves. Hope yours was too!

Costumes? Yes, please.
I'm one who looks for any excuse to throw a costume party. I look forward to Halloween as the socially expected day to wear a costume and eat tons of candy. How great is that? And that is the reason behind...
The family costume.
Why let the kids have all the fun? Yes, we love it too. This year, we were officially a farm family. Cast of characters: Farmer, Farmer's Wife, Rooster, and Baby Chick.
My little chickadees
My "angry birds" :)
Type A personality chickens gather their own eggs!
Dean's favorite toy in the whole world is a stick. Who needs dinosaurs, matchbox cars, train sets, educational toys, or legos, when you can have an awesome stick?
My little chickadee's waddle was the cutest thing I ever saw!
What came first, the chicken or the egg?
I have to say it, from the moment we started dating, Firoze has been coerced/forced/bribed into dressing up in all kinds of costumes every Halloween. But now, I think he finally likes it. Ok, maybe that's pushing it. But, he puts up with me and all my ideas and he's willing to wear just about anything! How could our farm family be complete without the Farmer?
This chicken flew the coop!
Devon was over the moon with excitement about Halloween and especially about seeing us all dressed up. We don't need any skanky Halloween party to flaunt our stuff. All I need is my 5 year old to say "You look JUST like a farmer Mama!" to make my day.
A proud Mother Hen with her flock!
Overalls... please tell me these will never be back in fashion EVER again!
A good farmer keeps track of all his chickens...
The Farmer in the Dell. Ha! Notice the freckles. :)
We were lucky enough to have some extra farm hands with us to help wrangle the chickens...
Debbie and Donna - the life of the party!
These girls don't go anywhere without their hoe or their eggs!
Pure childhood joy!
Couldn't stop smiling at my little Deanie, waddling down the street.
Not ours, but too cute!
I heart Ashford Park... best trick-or-treat street ever!
Donna was just happy to hoe! (Innappropriate farm jokes made this night VERY funny!)
Debbie was so sweet to take Dean for his one and only trick-or-treat!
And he LOVED his treat!
Don't you just want to squeeze him?!
We had the best time, laughing together, dressing up and laughing at each other, being with the boys, celebrating the holiday and enjoying a perfect fall night!
I hope your Halloween was full of treats!
P.S. I hope the over abundance of farm words and puns didn't drive you batty! Ooh, a Halloween pun. :)
